“It's sad that we have these two characters who are very intelligent but the plot and the writing just don't do them any justice. If Arthur Conan Coyle wrote a Holmes novel of this length, it would have been so much more complicated and logical. And if this is just a Lupin story, it would have had more flares and twists. However, these two meet and their stories become so simple and bland. Lupin becomes stupid after falling in love with a woman, and Herlock Sholmes (that's his name in this book, modified to avoid copyright) still takes a really long time to catch him because he spends all his time looking down on Wilson (Watson), whose character is so badly battered I don't want to talk about. Sholmes is more of a caricature of Sherlock Holmes, with the only exaggerated features being the ones makes him absolutely unreasonable and uninteresting. If you're looking for a good thief-versus-detective story, do yourself a favor and watch Kaito KID versus Detective Conan instead of reading this.”
