The ninth and final book of the Archibald Lox series by Darren Shan, the New York Times bestselling author of Cirque Du Freak and Lord Loss.

This is the third of three books in VOLUME THREE - the final volume - of the series.

PRAISE FOR ARCHIBALD LOX AND THE LEGION OF THE LOST

"Shan has created a far-reaching multiverse that boggles and beguiles, with characters that cannot fail to endear or revile. Beneath its simple, straightforward narrative is a deceptively complex, immersive experience that captivates the reader in a way only a master storyteller can." The British Fantasy Society.

"This book is a masterpiece, the very epitome of the phrase, 'saving the best for last'." The Literary Connoissuer.

"This final book in the series had everything. Tension, gore, heartache, deep soul-searching, laughs, adventure and an ending that will stay with you long after reading the last word." T. Higgs Reviews.

"Book nine is packed full of punches and twists. I was left with my mind reeling and my heart full in a heavy, satisfying sort of way." Rachel Hobbs, author of Shadow-Stained.

"One of my favourite things about Darren Shan is you can never predict what's going to happen next. Loose ends from previous books were cleared up in ways I'd never even considered. Now that I'm finished, I'm feeling pretty lost." This Dream's Alive.

PRAISE FOR VOLUME ONE

"A brisk, entertaining tale that unfolds in a wonderfully bizarre world." Kirkus.

"I read quite a lot during lockdown but nothing made me smile quite as much as these first three instalments in the Archibald Lox series." The Bookbag.

"Shan has created an alternative world that is extraordinary and imaginative with fantastical creatures that both delight and horrify. A soon-to-be fantasy classic." The US Review of Books.

"A gripping saga that will be appreciated not just by young adult audiences, but by adults who enjoy other strong YA authors who create fantasy worlds appealing to young and old alike." Midwest Book Review.

"A perfect middle grade book. I couldn't put it down and read it in almost one sitting. I give it a superb five out of five stars." Addicted to Media.

"High fantasy that allows you to step away from the real world and into a vivid space of wonder." The Reading Corner For All.

PRAISE FOR VOLUME TWO

"Shan has built an ambitiously original fantasy world populated with fully rounded characters who take us on unforgettably compelling journeys." Books, Films & Random Lunacy.

"The first three books were unlike anything I'd read before, and book 4 truly proves that Shan is a master storyteller." Kelly Smith Reviews.

“Boy, that series went out with a freaking bang. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. By the end, I was reading each book in a day because so much was going on, and each one was ending with a cliff hanger. I honestly wasn't sure it could all be wrapped up in one book, and the more that happened at the beginning, the more I was convince the author had backed himself into a corner. I appreciate that everything wasn't just tied up in a nice little bow. Things were kind of messy. It really does help to read all the books one right after the other. There were bits and pieces that I had forgotten about from previous books that played a part in this final installment. I like that everything came together in the end. Those little facts were not just throw away bits of information. I really want to read the series over again knowing everything I know now to see if I notice any details that I missed the first time around. I know there were somethings that Archie even points out that looking back on I know I completely missed. This may be a middle-grade series, but I don't care, I found it highly enjoyable, and kind of hope that there is a spin off series if the character is that was hinted at actually comes to pass. I can't say anything more than that, because that would ruin the entire series. Of course, I would only want that series, if Archie and his friends were involved. It would seem weird without them. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review. Content warnings: Language, violence Age appropriate: Yes”
“https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/hostedimages/1681748331i/34154086.jpg Archibald Lox and the Legion of the Lost was an excellent conclusion to the series. From start to finish the pacing was really quick. Revelation after revelation, death after death, Darren Shan sure knows how to keep us interested. I kind of suspected the big plot twist in this book (due to the voice in Archie's head from the sinkhole) but it was still an excellent execution of the plot twist. The conclusion was bitter sweet but neatly answered all the questions that I had. BUT why oh why did Archie and Inez not get together :( !!”
“https://images.gr-assets.com/hostedimages/1630193617ra/31846935.gif I usually try to write my reviews as spoiler free as possible but I can't with this one. First of all, I was looking at the book cover before I started reading and I thought to myself "this must be Old Man Reap!". Then I start reading and the character is the first person we run into and I'm like, "seems like I was wrong, he seems pretty nice". So I keep reading and well, it turns out he actually is Old Man Reap and I'm like Holy Molly, what the hell. So yeah, you had me fooled for a while, Mr Shan! Anyways... I loved this book and I loved this series. I already miss Archie, Inez, Cal, Winston. I feel I'm saying goodbye to friends I made in 2020 and I got to love and adore them (and lose some) and went on all these adventures in the last 2 years. Even though I re-read the first 2 volumes before I started reading the final volume last week, I feel like starting over and reading the whole series one more time just because I already miss it. Regardless, I know this is one of those series I'll be coming back to over the years. As the finale, this book was perfect. It was unpredictable, it was suspenseful, and the action was well paced. The loss of Ghita and specially Cal was heartbreaking but it's not a Darren Shan book unless at least a couple of your favorite characters die, is it? Speaking of Cal, I remember that he reminded me of someone else the first time I met him in the series, but I never figured out who. But I finally realized he is somehow similar to Big Sandy from https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20623020.The_Evil_And_The_Pure in some ways. And the ending and the big revelation... it was the moment everything started to make sense. I always hoped we would get to see Archie's Born family and I was kind of disappointed when we didn't but now it makes sense why they weren't included much. And to be honest, I always found it weird how the parts where Archie was supposedly explaining his absence to his Born family (and the police) were never in the story. Both times he had to go back home after being away for a long time were just referred to as if they weren't a big deal while they should've been. I'm not going to lie, I was really disappointed when I read those parts because it felt rushed to me and I knew it wasn't the Darren Shan way, but I still tried to ignore it. NOW it all makes sense. Then it was Archie's last name. As I was re-reading the first two volumes this time around, I noticed his last name was never mentioned. I didn't think it meant much but I thought it was an interesting detail (or lack of). Now I realize why! Really, the ending was absolutely PERFECT. It was like that missing piece of a puzzle that when you find it, everything else starts to make sense.”
