“Here are my scattered thoughts: It was entertaining, true, but so long. I felt like the story could've fit in less pages.
While it relied on many cliches of the genre, I think the worldbuilding and magic system were original enough - though it took me some time to understand the how the cards worked.
The writing felt repetitive at times.
As for the romance, morally ambiguous dark haired prince who's the mc's sworn enemy but she's still attracted to and they have to pretend to be engaged. You know how it goes. (Personally, it's my favorite cliche, but if that's not your cup of tea, maybe pick up another book.)”“Using tarot as the tool for casting magic was so unique and enjoyable.”
“Arcana Academy was a pretty okay novel. The magic system was pretty interesting, but honestly it felt like every other fantasy book released recently.
The male love interest again seems like every other character in any fantasy series. I didn’t particularly like him, honestly. I wish we got more about all the friends Clara had in her year, but instead we got an abundance of Kaelis, as well as Clara’s hatred for literally everything and everyone.
I’m only giving it a good rating because I was entertained, but that’s about it.”
