“I can’t believe I finally finished reading this book. I also cannot believe that this book is finally out. Scarlett St. Claire has become one of my favorite authors despite the fact that I’ve only read three of her books so far. Well, four counting this one. The cool thing about this new series that she’s writing is that each story and inspired by a different fairytale or fairy tales. The gold is a story about a woman named Samara who lives with her three brothers. They are cruel to her and at times abuse her. She dreams of a man she met in the woods who gave her a knife, and she cut off his hand. This was a man who she loved. One day while she’s in the woods she crosses past with a prince who later on makes a deal with her brothers for her hand in marriage. The Prince fulfills his part of the bargain and takes her away and his carriage. Unfortunately tragedy strikes, and Samara finds herself on the run from thieves only to be saved by handsome fairy Prince and his friend a little red fox. The ending was not easy to guess. Despite the fact that this book is a novella a lot happens. There are moments of spice, but there are also moments of fear and terror and I like that combo.”

Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“I was so excited to read this, after having loved Mountains Made of Glass. Fairy tale retellings that are a little dark and twisty are fun for sure. This one got a little gory for me in spots, thus giving the 3.5 rating, but other wise really liked it. I feel like she turned up the spice notch in this one too. I will def continue this series as she releases them. Fun, quick, entertaining reads that are short and get right to the point! Also, F those brothers!”
