Anthem

By Ayn Rand
Anthem by Ayn Rand digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Anthem is a dystopian science fiction novella by Ayn Rand. Mankind has entered a new dark age as a result of the evils of irrationality and collectivism and the weaknesses of socialistic thinking and economics. Individuality and ambition have become sins. Technological advancement is now carefully planned (when it is allowed to occur at all). Here is the story of one man willing to risk everything to rebel against a society that refuses to believe in the power or rights of the individual.

Anxious Face with sweat“This book is an interesting examination of what it can take to discover ones self and individuality. I also really liked the setting, a world rebuilt hundreds of years after the end of the world. However, I personally think that it prases man's ego too much. The manifesto of the book misses the point of what it means to have human ture connection. It also comes across as hypocritical because while the main character names himself and finds his individuality his love interest blindly follows him. She let's him do anything he wants to her, and doesn't even get to pick her own name. It's like she's just there for him to have sex with so that he can start a new society. That bothers me alot. It was an interesting book, but not one I enjoyed.”
