Ancillary Sword
By Ann LeckiePublisher Description
Seeking atonement for past crimes, Breq takes on a mission as captain of a troublesome new crew of Radchai soldiers, in the sequel to the New York Times bestselling, award-winning Ancillary Justice.
Breq is a soldier who used to be a warship. Once a weapon of conquest controlling thousands of minds, now she has only a single body and serves the emperor.
With a new ship and a troublesome crew, Breq is ordered to go to the only place in the galaxy she would agree to go: to Athoek Station to protect the family of a lieutenant she once knew -- a lieutenant she murdered in cold blood.
Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch trilogy has become one of the new classics of science fiction. Beautifully written and forward thinking, it does what good science fiction does best, taking readers to bold new worlds with plenty explosions along the way.

“I've been sleeping on this series for far too long! Admittedly, they are slow to get going but boy do they move once they do. The world building is expansive and so inventive. The character arcs are incredibly well done and subtle and the action is truly thrilling. I can’t wait to read every other book attached to this world/am almost sad to see the trilogy come to an end in the next book. Fans of Memory Called Empire, Murderbot and Gideon the 9th, shouldn't miss this series!”

“Leckie is very very good at finely weaving together more intricate plot points to create believable, rich characters. However, what I feel this series has struggled to do is incorporate its violence/action in any sort of meaningful way and what that leads to, for me, is a less compelling novel. Besides its commentary on citizenship, class conflict, and fascism, I just don’t really find much reason to take my time reading this series. It’s just not that interesting to read beyond its character work. That alone is enough to warrant my completion of this series however, also my hope that Minaai is reintroduced. As harsh as what I said sounds, it is still a fun, easy read.”
