A new gothic dark fantasy coming in 2024
Only the banished know what lies beyond the woods ...
There are whispers about what lurks in Witch Knell—the forest where sinners go to d!e. The villagers call it The Eating Woods because what’s taken is never given back. Only those who’ve lost their senses would dare to go near it.
Or the banished.
Maevyth Bronwick knows better than to breach the misty labyrinth of trees, but a tragic turn of events compels her beyond the archway of bones, to a boundary no mortal has crossed before. One that cloaks a dark and fantastical world that’s as dangerous as it is alluring.
It’s there that he dwells, the cursed lord of Eidolon. The one tasked to keep her hidden from the magehood that seeks to crucify her in the name of an arcane prophesy. Zevander Rydainn, known to his prey as The Scorpion, is the coldest, most calculated assassin in all of Aethyria and he’d sooner toss his feisty ward to a pack of vicious fyredrakes than keep her safe.
If only he could.
Maevyth’s blood is the key to breaking his despised curse and vanquishing the slumbering evil in Witch Knell. Unfortunately for Lord Rydainn, fate has other plans for the irresistible little enchantress. And his growing obsession with her threatens to destroy everything.
Including himself.

“This book for me was a breath of fresh air. The writing was beautiful and even with many high fantasy words, it easn’t heard to read. Felt like all the new words almost echoed their meaning in english and it was easy to understand/remember them. The magic system felt unique and powerful. Believable almost? As the setting also felt realistic with the description of the mortal lands and the very human flaws of all the characters and situations mentioned. The topics were dark, but the author skillfully managed to write about these themes without them feeling icky or disgusting in a way where it spoils the “taste” of the story. They just easily incorportated with the rest of the plot and made all the sense why the darker themes were included, as they suplemented the history of this particular world and the characters/people in it. MFC was witty, but not over the top as some other fantasy girlies. Even with her trauma, she could mobilize, articulate herself, wasn’t unreasonable and didn’t cause disarray just for the sake of it. She felt smart and I enjoyed that she was also able to be useful, learn what was taught to her without some huge emotional blowout and otherwordly struggle. That she could cook and wasn’t clumsy all the time, unlike, again, most of the heroines I’ve read. MMC was an absolute shadowdaddy. Loved the banter, the broody moods, the reson behind his decisions. He read slightly morally gray to me, but it felt very appropriate given his own history. His sister was an absolute gem of a side character.
The setting was so complimentary to the plot and the characters that it made me fall completely in love with this book from the very beginning. You don’t have to wait to be half way in to start enjoying yourself. And I’ve come to realize that this is very important for a great read and often us missing in the romantasty genre. 10/10”
