“It was intriguing how Cole took a different approach with the third installment of the Loyal League series. I can't fathom how frightening it must've been in the south during the height of the Civil War, however, Cole does a good job at painting that picture.
After Daniel Cumberland's short appearance in A Hope Divided, I predicted his journey was next but I wasn't expecting an Afro Latina, Janeta Sanchez, to be apart of it. I loved the perspective she brings as the FMC. She's apprehensive yet bold in the face of new territory. Issues with racial identity, colorism, and acceptance played a larger role in how she perceived herself. For Daniel, overcoming his brutal past was tough but necessary for personal growth.
The constant action paired with the descriptions and dialouge made this a fun read and an overall fulfilled series.”
