“꒰🐺꒱ I was willing to give Blake R. Wolfe the benefit of the doubt about supporting AI since I already had the book in my library (so I might as well read it, I guess) but dear God - the main character was annoying as hell. Pissy at everything, sarcastic (which grew old and unfunny pretty fast), unpleasant to be around and constantly treating people like shit because of his emotional 'baggage'. As a queer person with trauma myself, let me preface this: trauma doesn't excuse being a jerk, it might explain it but it certainly doesn't justify it. Not to mention he was extremely sensitive about his aspiration to be a writer? I can understand holding a dream close to your heart but if you call people names in your head and explode every time someone says anything remotely negative about what you're doing, then perhaps you should work on yourself first and stop projecting your insecurities onto others. I cannot for the life of me comprehend how his main love interest found him cute.
DNF'ed at 52% mark.
(P.S unlikable characters can be written well. Antipathetic doesn't immediately mean - "book bad >:(". In fact, I fell in love with many complicated fictional personalities before, most of them holding trauma as well.
