All the Scattered Stars

By Via Luino
All the Scattered Stars by Via Luino digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

The glitter of Venice's lights hides a dark truth: when the floodwaters rise, no one is safe. Koru knows better than to trust anyone but her own. Hidden deep in the winding twists of Venice's narrow alleys, Koru and her found family must disguise themselves to survive. They are Rhunlokni, an ethnic minority gifted with the ability to channel the power of the Earth, their Goddess. They have long been vilified and prosecuted for their strange abilities—and Koru's gift is the strongest of her generation. So when the police arrive in St. Mark's Square to arrest Koru for a crime she didn't commit, she does the only thing she can—she runs. Though Koru manages to escape the police, a larger threat is drawing near. Koru must figure out what the Goddess is trying to tell her, protect those she loves, and uncover the truth of her past before it's too late—because Venice is sinking. Tonight.

All the Scattered Stars Reviews

4.5
“As a reader, you can tell there’s intention behind every choice with the plot, setting, and events that happen to the characters. It’s a harsh reminder that we are our own destruction by polluting the Earth. Via does a beautiful job of incorporating that into powers for the FMC and connection with the Goddess. The representation of underrepresented people and the oppression the characters go through is very real and harsh. I cried 3/4 into the book, which does not happen often! I look forward to reading more of Via’s work in the future 💚”
“This debut novel is a fast-paced, thought-provoking read that dives deep into ethical tensions around environmentalism and the oppression of the Rhunlokni, a marginalized culture in Venice. The story doesn’t shy away from difficult questions about power, exploitation, and whose voices are valued, all while maintaining a gripping momentum. At its core, though, it carries a lot of heart, especially through its found family dynamics and the main character’s magical, almost spiritual connection to the earth through a goddess. Highly recommend!”
