Publisher Description

All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque (Bauer World Press)

All Quiet on the Western Front, published originally as Im Westen nichts Neues, is a powerful and enduring novel by Erich Maria Remarque, chronicling profound human experience amidst the trenches of World War I.

Through the perspective of young German soldier Paul Bäumer, the narrative delves into the brutal realities of battle, the bonds forged among soldiers, and the disillusionment that comes with the loss of innocence.

With its unflinching portrayal of the physical and psychological wounds inflicted by war, the novel challenges romanticised notions of heroism and bravery. All Quiet on the Western Front remains an enduring testament to the costs of armed conflict on individuals and society.

“One of my favorite books in high school and I feel as if I read it for the very first time. I honestly can’t get over the vocabulary, the prose, and the pacing of this book. Under 200 pages and every word, every sentence, every paragraph and chapter had so much meaning and substance. Take any part of it out and it falls apart. There were maybe a few pages that felt a little tough to get through and I wish there was more to it to really fall in love with the characters more, but other than that, absolutely perfect. I teared up in the end and I so badly want to watch the film and I pray they do it justice because wow what a film this could be.”
