War. Whiplash. Conflict. Sacrifice.
I am in utter shambles. This author… she has a GIFT. As much as I felt like I was. Going to hate this book because of the treacherous journey that was part 1, good lord I am so grateful I got to the other side cause - OH MY GOD.
I have so many feelings and will definitely be re-reading this book. There are so many details now I realized I think I have missed.
General thoughts sticking in my brain:
The erasure of history. Storytelling and the lore of societies. History is truly only ever an agreed story. Who knows the truths and other perspectives there were than those who lived.
The jarring complexities of being blinded and guided by love, companionship…. The gift and treasure of sharing a bonded soul.
The ending made me think of the real trauma people endure from war and how this engrained feeling of fight or flight carries on through generations.”
