Adjustment Day: A Novel

By Chuck Palahniuk
Adjustment Day: A Novel by Chuck Palahniuk digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

New York Times Bestseller

"An irreverent satirical fantasy about a sudden and violent upheaval.…Think Tom Robbins channeling Jonathan Swift." —David Takami, Seattle Times

Adjustment Day is an ingenious darkly comic work in which Chuck Palahniuk does what he does best: skewer the absurdities in our society. Geriatric politicians bring the nation to the brink of a third world war to control the burgeoning population of young males, while working-class men dream of burying the elites. Adjustment Day’s arrival makes real the logical conclusion of every separatist fantasy, alternative fact, and conspiracy theory lurking in the American psyche.

“Wtf did I just read? Scary af. Disturbing af. Absurd af. Funny af. Gross af. I wish I could give it even more stars for calling out Stephen King for repeatedly using the magical black man in his books I loved it”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“This book was written in 2019 but eerily sounds exactly like 2024. Almost like predicting the future of how society is today. This book focuses on the enlistment of young men into the war where the young men don’t want to go. This, focusing on Adjustment Day. The young men band together to form ain’t those highly voted to be killed, men becoming bounty hunters to kill the elite, stopping at nothing to not go to war and repeat the same struggles and torment the men before them went through by being enlisted. This book, without speaking directly on it, sounds eerily like incel culture. There’s even a female character having sympathy for male characters making r*pe jones because they don’t have a lot of time left before they conscript, so might as well be as sexist as possible right? The violence that is shown in this book of male’s destruction of society is scary to see it in real time in 2024 going into 2025. Very similar to the presidential elections & Twitter making incels feel even more at home. My only question is, what’s going to happen in a couple of years when the young boys and adult men decide to come together & not want to live in a world with women anymore?”
