This fallout sets the stage for disaster as she travels to Spain and dissociates from everything she knew. Adding to her struggles is her moms refusal to see the truth forcing Jess to live out of Michaels car. Drawn thin and left to hang as Michael prepares for college, Jess attempts suicide. It is in the hospital Jess comes to terms with her suffering and how to endure in the face of lost hope.
