“Just ok. Couldn’t focus on it.”
“Imri Cantaros is one of my favourite High Republic characters. He's the only Jedi in the franchise that I relate to - whether that's good or bad. So, naturally, I'll enjoy any story in which he's a main character.
The middle-grade books are not written for me. Yet I have often found them to be wonderful reads. A Test of Courage, also by Justina Ireland, impacted me in an unprecedented way. I can't say that that this book - the final middle-grade novel in the initiative - was nearly as effective. However, it was still a fun read, with action, adventure, and heart.
It's perhaps underdeveloped in almost every way. A surface level story that rushes through the narrative like a ship racing through hyperspace. But Imri and Tep-Tep's story left a beaming smile across my face - if you've read it, you know!
