A new Civil War is brewing. With the city of Bewelcome as its headquarters, Allan Pinkerton's Detective Agency leads a siege on Hex City, the town founded by "Reverend" Asher Rook and his consort, the Mayan goddess Ixchel. Meanwhile, Chess Pargeter gears up for the greatest fight of his life—and death. A battle out of hell itself . . .     "Gemma's been producing top-notch horror stories for years, and her weird Western Hexslinger trilogy is chock full of hellish horrors." —Mike Allen, author of   "Potent mythology, complex characters, and dollops of creeping horror and baroque gore establish Files's Hexslinger series as a top-notch horror-fantasy saga." —   "Paints a stark, vivid, and gory picture of the 'wild west' in the years following the Civil War . . . Files's latest is not for the squeamish but should delight fans of gothic Western fantasy and Central American myths." —   "Ridiculously vivid . . . A Tree of Bones Reviews

“This series reads to me like Billy the Kid in Middle Earth. There are so many parallels to LOTR - even down to the vast spider in the last book. It wasn't bad - Files is a very good writer. But this trilogy wasn't her best work. All in all, things didn't balance across the whole narrative. It was OK, I bought into most of the characters pretty well, I liked the way they ended up reasonably well... but the whole thing was less than her work usually gets in my ratings. There were a few attached short stories at the end that touched back to follow some of the characters into further endeavors, and those had a different tone. I liked the short works better.”
“An amazing end to the series! Everything came together wonderfully and the character development was perfect (and had me in tears). The writing itself is also incredibly refreshing and unique. I never wanted to put it down. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is after a fantasy that has both an interesting and exciting plot AND characters that you get invested in.”
