Why read on Fable?
Publisher Description
The last thing Garrett, Duke of Calton, expects to find while tracking his sworn enemy is the delectable, mysterious Kate. This beautiful servant girl rouses a longing the battle-scarred ex-soldier had never hoped to feel again. But when she turns out to be the sister of the man he seeks, he's convinced he's been betrayed.
Kate knows her duty to her family, yet how can she ignore Garrett's powerful pull on her heart? Or the heady temptation of his stolen-and sizzling-kisses? Scandal has followed the duke since the war. Now the greatest shock of all is on its way-the one that can separate Garrett and Kate forever.

“Usually romance series are very contrived, a minor character from the romance you loved is brought out to find their happy ending in a situation completely divorced from the one you loved in the original book; in other words, a story that could have been told just as well as a stand alone romance. In this case, the sequel is truly a continuation of the previous book. While Wicked had a clear ending point (it centered around Sophie finding her true love, after all), there were plenty of loose ends to be tied up.
The villian, William Fisk, has escaped and Garrett knows that Fisk won't stop until he's destroyed Garrett, so Garrett has hunted him down to his family's home and is in the process of figuring out the best way to kill Fisk when he's distracted by a lively young woman who spied on him while he was bathing in a secluded pool. Unfortunately the girl turns out to be Kate, Fisk's sister, who has been acting as the maid to Garrett's sister Rebecca and has only recently learned how evil her brother is. Still, Garrett, Rebecca, and Kate work together to kill Fisk and his henchmen, freeing them all from his dark machinations.
So, happy ending, right? Not so much. Rebecca demands that Kate come to live with her and Garrett, but Kate is not used to the finery of a Duke's home and feels very out of place. When Garrett's old flame from his amnesia years in Belgium arrives heavy with child, things get even more uncomfortable and Kate flees, leaving Garrett even more confused. This time I knew who the snake was right away, but I was still shocked by the implications and impressed by the way the whole resolution played out. It showcased the strong individuals in Haymore's novels that I can't help but root for.
The third book is supposed to find Rebecca a loving husband, but from the first chapter excerpt I'm nervous that this one is going to feel like just another contrived sequel that could have really just been a stand alone story. I'll still be grabbing this one as soon as it comes out, though.”

About Jennifer Haymore
As a child, Jennifer Haymore traveled the South Pacific with her family on their homebuilt sailboat. The months spent on the sometimes quiet, sometimes raging seas sparked her love of adventure and grand romance. Since then, she's earned degrees in computer science and education and held various jobs ranging from bookselling to teaching inner-city children to acting, but she's never stopped writing.
You can find Jennifer in Southern California trying to talk her husband into yet another trip to England, helping her three children with homework while brainstorming a new five-minute dinner menu, or crouched in a corner of the local bookstore writing her next novel.
