“A fun, quick read great for the whole family.
I listened to the audiobook from my library. The narrator did a splendid job, and the iconic Star Wars sound effects added to the enjoyment of this story.
I'm unsure where the epilogue was leading us as I'm unsure if these need to be read in a specific order. If they are to be read in a specific order I don't know which order. If they can be read in any order then perhaps I wasn't fully paying attention to a key point. That's possible too.
Anyway, if you enjoyed the Star Wars cartoons/animation then you might enjoy this one.”
“As a story for MG readers, this packed a punch and showed how the younger Jedi and Padawans still have so much to learn. Landing on a planet with literal acid rain—during the rainy season, no less—made a good eco argument for why we need to stop messing up Earth.
One thing that made me a bit uncomfortable, though, were two lines that strongly echoed Christianity. No, it’s not good enough to simply believe in what you’ve been taught without knowing why. It’s also not good enough to say, “mysterious ways” to explain things. In their universe, the Force actually exists, so let’s try not to follow Christian rules again when explaining it.
Other than those two lines, I enjoyed this book and recommend it to other adult Star Wars fans. Yes, the writing was brought down to a more simplistic level, but it’s really not that bad. Give it a try and see!”
