A Terrible Fall of Angels by Laurell K. Hamilton digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Angels walk among us, but so do other unearthly beings in this brand new series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton.

Meet Detective Zaniel Havelock, a man with the special ability to communicate directly with angels. A former trained Angel speaker, he devoted his life to serving both the celestial beings and his fellow humans with his gift, but a terrible betrayal compelled him to leave that life behind. Now he’s a cop who is still working on the side of angels. But where there are angels, there are also demons. There’s no question that there’s evil at work when he’s called in to examine the murder scene of a college student—but is it just the evil that one human being can do to another, or is it something more? When demonic possession is a possibility, even angelic protection can only go so far. The race is on to stop a killer before he finds his next victim, as Zaniel is forced to confront his own very personal demons, and the past he never truly left behind.

The first in a new series from the author of the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series.

A Terrible Fall of Angels Reviews

3.5
“The book started strong, with a slightly unique magic system/world. The Angel vs. Demon thing was interesting. However as the story went on, I found the story repetitive. The author kept repeating the same points over and over again. The MMC was unlikable. It was like, a woman who has no idea about how men are, wrote a book about a man. Found it corny and off-putting. I didnt fall in love with any of the characters. It was just below average for me. And the climax did not climax. The ending was flat.”
“Fairly interesting. I read this author's Anita Blake books as a middle/high schooler, which certainly gave some explicit sexual education, but which I abandoned when it became almost wholly sex lacking plot (it was a ways into the series, mind). This one has no sex, but a bit of simmer, with a devoted husband struggling with being separated from his wife to the point he is starting to really notice (only notice) Many women. Oh, also there are angels and demons and possessions and spirits and such. I think this world is surprisingly well thought out--surprising as I'd forgotten this author did more than smut magic. I just wish we'd gotten more of the world before this story talking about why what was happening shouldn't be possible. I'd like the ground rules before they're broken. Still, I did enjoy the characters and think I'd like more of this world.”
“This felt like a whole lot of world building with little plot pay off.”
