A Stranger in Town by Kelley Armstrong digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

In the next riveting thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong, the paranoia increases – along with the stakes – as the town of Rockton tries to solve the latest mystery at their door.

Detective Casey Duncan has noticed fewer and fewer residents coming in to the hidden town of Rockton, and no extensions being granted. Her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, presumes it’s the natural flux of things, but Casey’s not so sure. It seems like something bigger is happening in the small town they call home.

When an injured hiker stumbles from the woods, someone who seems to have come to the Yukon for a wilderness vacation but instead is now fighting for her life, it’s all hands on deck. What – or who – attacked this woman, and why?

With the woman unconscious, and no leads, Casey and Eric don’t know where the threat is coming from. Plus, the residents of their deeply secretive town are uneasy with this stranger in their midst. Everyone in Rockton wants this mystery solved – and fast.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“Summary of A Stranger in Town by Kelley Armstrong Casey Duncan returns in the sixth installment of the Rockton series. Lately, things have been unusually calm in the isolated town of Rockton, with fewer new residents and no extensions being granted to current inhabitants. While her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, believes this is normal, Casey has her suspicions. Things take a dangerous turn when an injured hiker, the only survivor of a violent attack, stumbles into town. As Casey and Dalton work to uncover the truth about what happened to the hiker, tensions rise, and the situation becomes more complicated with the arrival of a mysterious council member. With the potential closure of Rockton looming, Casey and Eric must unravel the mystery before it's too late. Review A Stranger in Town is a fantastic addition to the Rockton series and a thrilling ride from start to finish. Kelley Armstrong has once again crafted an intricate mystery that keeps the reader on edge, constantly pulling them down new, unexpected paths. I never knew where the story was headed, and just when I thought I had it figured out, Armstrong introduced new twists that deepened the mystery. The setting is another highlight—Armstrong's vivid description of the harsh, yet beautiful, Yukon wilderness makes it almost feel like you’re right there alongside Casey and Dalton. It made me long to visit the region, even though I had to cancel my own trip there last year. The relationship between Casey and Dalton is one of the strongest aspects of the series. Their bond is healthy, supportive, and filled with love and respect. Their partnership, both personal and professional, adds depth to the story. I also loved the inclusion of Casey’s sister, April. Her humorous critiques of Casey’s detective skills had me laughing out loud, and her role as the town doctor brings a refreshing dynamic to the plot. But it’s the shocking ending that really leaves an impact. I didn’t see it coming, and it made me even more eager to see what happens next. Armstrong raises the stakes in this installment in ways readers won’t expect, and it leaves me incredibly curious about what’s to come. In conclusion, A Stranger in Town is an absolute must-read for fans of the series and a great example of Armstrong’s ability to create suspenseful, character-driven mysteries. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next in the Rockton series! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
