Publisher Description

She's fiery and independent; he's a wounded soldier—holiday sparks fly when a blizzard traps these two strangers with unexpected ties.

WINNER! 2024 National Excellence in Storytelling Award

Stranded away from home, Anne cannot decide if the dashing soldier who limps to her aid will be a help or a hindrance. He sure does like to argue with her, though. As tempers—and attraction—flare, his presence promises to warm her through the icy night. Betrothed since childhood, never mind that she hasn't met the neglectful rogue, Anne knows it's a positively horrid idea to fall for the neighboring estate's new gamekeeper, no matter how much his brusque wit and protective ways might intrigue.

Returning home from war challenges the new Viscount Redford on every front. So he could be forgiven, surely, for being provoked to daring kisses with the irritatingly desirable miss he stumbles across deep in the night. Ed knows better than to leave any attractive female on her own, but when this one quickly seeps beneath his bristly exterior, despite his scars and rough ways? Ed hates anew that pesky betrothal that has landed upon his shoulders, along with the title.

Full of fun, witty, humorous banter, all the feels, and a heartwarming HEA.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“Wanted more story! The mystery shifter plot line felt unfulfilling in the end and thus overall didn’t add to the story. But beautifully written with great characters”
Expressionless Face“Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ Genre: Historical Romance + Novella This is a Regency Christmas novella that tells the story of Lord Edward Redford, who returns home after inheriting his father's title and his brother's betrothed. Ed, after returning from war, is amputated and has no interest in marriage, but a chance encounter with a stranger during a snowstorm changes his perspective. They find solace in each other and ignite a passionate connection, yet their bond is hindered by his engagement and her disinterest in marriage. This was a cover pick! The cover looks stunning, and the story's theme sounds amazing for the holiday season, so I couldn’t resist. The setting of the story is charming, and the characters are likable. Forced proximity was a promising factor in providing entertainment. I really wanted this to be a favorite read, but it was just OK. It's not the book, but me. I found it quite difficult to engage with this book. The author’s writing style requires some time to adapt to. I'm not sure what it is, but something about the writing felt like a barrier between it and my understanding. I didn’t like the excessive use of dashes in her writing. It made the flow of the story uneven. That is unfortunate because, behind that, I feel that both male and female characters had a unique quality. This just didn’t work as I had hoped.”
