“My Rating: 4 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
T.W: death of a spouse/parent
Tropes/Themes: faith based, holiday romance, marriage of convenience, widowed mother, strong family elements, small town
My Review:
A really sweet modern day retelling of Ruth and Boaz. Grief can bring many emotions to the surface and I thought Jenna Mindel did a fantastic job showing those complicated feelings in Ruth. I grew to love Ruth as I watched her work through the guilt of wanting to move on but still missing the husband, who had passed away. Bo was a great character, I liked that he worked to build a relationship with not only Ruth but Ethan and Owen as well. Bo’s mother was so sweet and I enjoyed the strong family dynamics within this story. I can’t wait for book two in 2023! I had such a wonderful time visiting some wonderful characters.
Not quite a five star book for me, I don’t want to spoil anything but I didn’t love how long it took for Bo to come clean with Ruth… It made the ending feel abrupt and rushed.”
