Publisher Description

Two potion shops, one heated rivalry…until hate bubbles over into something else.

Any adventurer worth their sword knows about Ambrose Beake. The proud, quiet half-elf sells the best, and only, potions in the city—until a handsome new shopkeeper named Eli opens another potion shop across the street, throwing Ambrose's peace and ledgers far off balance.

Within weeks, they're locked in a war of price tags and products—Ambrose's expertise against Eli's effortless charm. Toil leads to trouble, the safety gloves come off, and right as their rivalry reaches a boiling point…

The mayor commissions them to brew a potion together.

The task is as complex as it is lucrative, pushing both men to the limits of their abilities and patience. Yet as the fires burn and cauldrons bubble…they find a different sort of chemistry brewing.

“This was cute. I think Ambrose was the most likeable and enjoyable of the bunch, closely followed by Grim. I don't forgive Dawn, she's a shit friend and remained one. You don't risk your friend's life, then run away, then gratefully accept HIS apology. Sherry was similarly terrible. Eli only turned better towards the end without ever making up or even owning up to his mistakes which is guess is fine for a brash adventurer to be. I absolutely hated that even when other people did terrible things, it was always Ambrose who had to apologize first. And then whoever wronged them was like "ah it's alright I'm sorry too lets move on and never speak of this again" as if they did him such a great favour by accepting his apology. That's no way to live your life. If this how it is, you need better friends. (Looking at Dawn and Sherry. Eli too, especially at the start. Banneker is on thin ice.) But the setting was very cute and cozy and I enjoyed many of the magic concepts, especially the slight nods to different sciences in the art pieces. All and all an enjoyable story, even if I'm not sure I'm glad about this exact family Ambrose found who instead of looking for the root of his apparent put-of-character decisions just went to admonish him without doing the supporting that's supposed to be part of the tough love act.”
