““When I learned to open my life and heart to unexpected possibilities, I found my own happily-ever-after.”
From a very young age, Molly Carter felt like she didn’t belong in High Valley, Montana. In fact, since she was eight years old, Molly wanted a city life. At the first chance she gets, she leaves for the big city and works hard to attain the life she always wanted.
Unfortunately, she overlooked what achieving her dream would cost her.
When she returns to celebrate her mom having a double Thanksgiving wedding with her fiance Shane and her brother, Bryce, with his fiancee, Carrie, Molly feels like she’s a failure. In her drive to accomplish, Molly sidestepped love and a feeling of belonging, leaving her wondering if she really belongs in Atlanta. Is returning an option? Is she a failure if she chooses a career as a rural nurse over her dream job now as a city researcher?
Unbeknownst to her, Troy Clayton, her high school sweetheart, is back in town having bought Bitterroot Ranch and now involved with local business dealings. Can he avoid Molly and Tall Grass Ranch for eight or nine weeks? Will his presence influence Molly’s decision?
“Changing your mind doesn’t mean you’re a failure. It means you’ve grown and changed like we all do.”
I enjoyed:
✔️ the examination of the different kinds of happiness and the reminder that what makes us happy at one point in our life, may change as we mature.
✔️ considering that following our dreams doesn’t always mean following our heart
✔️ the exploration of real security not being found in making money
✔️ the encouragement to unravel and discover what’s truly important
✔️ considering my definition of ‘home’
✔️ second chances
Despite not reading previous books in this series, I was able to enjoy this uplifting story about the bonds of friendship, family and community as a standalone. I’d consider making time to catch up with the previous three in Jen Gilroy’s backlist. This is the fourth and final title in the Montana Carters miniseries by Harlequin Heartwarming.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.”

“If you like Second Chance romances, a ranchers romance and a small town... this is the one for you!
Molly and Troy have a past. They fell in love one Summer when they were kids , dreaming of a future. With so much uncertainty, Molly was afraid to stay put and not pursue her dreams, so she broke it off. He made it over the years into a total success, as did she as a nurse. They achieved a lot separately... all except love, neither had found it again. When they run into each other again, all the feelings from back then come rushing back! But she's only home for a few months, and he just moved back home for good. Once again, it looks like all they have is borrowed time. And they constantly go back and forth, wondering do they soak up this small moment together, knowing it will have to end? Or do they save themselves the heartache and back away, so their next breakup isn't as painful?
Sweet, sweet story! I felt the chemistry from them from the very beginning I knew their plans to avoid each other wouldn't be possible. They are drawn together, and you can see why. But both have things that happened in their pasts that have them still trying to prove themselves. And while they do that love keeps getting pushed on the back burner. Will they make time for love? Take this risk once again?
I received a complimentary copy of this book. A positive review was not required.”
