A Plague of Shadows by C. René Astle digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Mina Sun needs to die. Despite being one of the undead already.

Too bad she's a bit busy right now. Her best friend is missing. Her family is pestering her to visit. And she's struggling to fit in with the group of vampires that invited her to join their conclave. These same vampires make their second thoughts clear in the whispers and sidelong glances when she enters the room.

But Mina doesn't need their whispers to tell her she's different. She hears it when her blood sings and feels it when her gut twists, fighting a losing battle against the monster inside. The monster she's doomed to become.

And now bodies are turning up, sucked so dry they look like mummies. It's not the gargoyles: they leave a mangled, gnawed-on corpse...if they leave a corpse at all.

Instead, a new evil stalks the night. The best clue to its identity are the dying words of a homeless man, raving about the reign of night, the death of light and a blade of darkness.

Can Mina unravel the riddle, find this new evil and save her friend without releasing the monster inside?

A Plague of Shadows Reviews

2.5
“This book moved slow at the beginning, having more of a focus on Mina not really fitting in than anything else and then all of a sudden it’s moving at warp speed. Because things started happening so fast toward the end, it became difficult to follow. There are also coincidental things that happen that are hard to believe. I will continue and finish the series because I already have the final book.”

About C. René Astle

Author of the Bloodborne Pathogens dark fantasy series, C. Rene Astle gained a love of fiction, fantasy in particular, and a voracious appetite for story literally at her mother's knee, being read The Hobbit and Chronicles of Narnia as bedtime stories - because those are the types of stories her mom wanted to read.

From her father, she got an enduring curiosity about the universe, earned shivering in the dark beside a telescope on cold, Canadian winter nights waiting to witness some celestial event.

Now she fits in writing between her day job, gardening and getting out to enjoy supernatural British Columbia.
