“3.5 stars. FULL REVIEW IN https://aishasbookworld.wordpress.com/2024/01/31/review-a-nine-month-deal-with-her-husband-hot-winter-escapes-5-by-joss-wood/ To get rid of her stepfather and have access to her trust fund, Millicent “Millie” Piper makes Benedikt “Ben” Jónsson an offer he can’t refuse: a short-term marriage of convenience. Ben also wants to get rid of Millie’s stepfather to have full control of the PR company Millie’s mother Jacqui founded (Jacqui was Ben’s mentor and business partner) in order to take the company to the next level, so he agrees. The deal worked extremely well; yet they never divorced as planned. Twelve years later, Millie wants a baby by herself through artificial insemination but feels that having one while still married to Ben isn’t the right thing. That’s the moment when Millie goes to Iceland to ask Ben for a divorce. What neither of them expected was that they’d be attracted to each other. Mother nature interferes, and both Millie and Ben get snowbound in Ben’s house. Would they resist temptation? The author relied on their similarities to create a credible, solid couple couple. And I can understand why she did it because her bet works, to a certain point. What I don’t believe is how out of a sudden their attraction explode. I mean, their first kiss was kinda misplaced and felt forced in the plot. And those uncontrollable desires looked like they were teens fighting with their hormones. Of course, I can see that they didn’t see each other for twelve years and people change—Millie was 18, Ben was 26 when they got married. But I find it difficult in the context of this book that they didn’t felt something when they were younger. At least on Millie’s part. Not to mention that they were separated for TWELVE. FREAKING. YEARS. Five years? That I can believe. TWELVE? No, I don’t buy it. This book isn’t my first one from Joss Wood. However, this wasn’t my favorite one. It’s a nice reading and the author knows how to keep the reader interested, but we didn’t see the whole package factor here. And I know she has the potential to do it. Nevertheless, I won’t discard her books; she’s so talented that I wouldn’t be surprised if her next book becomes the book. ARC given by Joss Wood via Booksprout in exchange of an honest review.
