A Lush and Seething Hell Reviews

3.5
“The real horror was trying to get to the good bits. This is a quiet horror with a really anticlimactic ending that just annoyed me. Also, not much of a cosmic horror either. The first story was published separately but it was just meh in my opinion so this is more about the second story here. We have two main characters and both are unlikable. One is a cheater, which we are told right off the bat, and is just a weird creepy guy whose thoughts about any woman gave me the ick. The second guy has some serious white saviour complex but this is acknowledged by the present day characters. Despite that certain lines and repeated virtue signalling had me rolling my eyes. Also the descriptions of a prison farm, making it seem 'not that bad' and like some 'gathering of men' was just... ignorant. The one star is for the first story (which I originally rated 3 stars but the second story annoyed me a lot so idc) and the rest is for those sparse creepy scenes.”
