“An interesting addition to the Wicked lore, bringing in the perspective of the most well known Animal from the Wizard of Oz to this saga in which the rights of the talking Animals is a major focus. Mostly told through flashback, we eventually get to some more interesting revelations in the book’s third act that remind us that this is in fact connected to the previous book, Son of a Witch. Overall, a mostly engaging journey through McGuire’s Oz that does make one think about labels, titles and courage.”About Gregory Maguire
