A Line in the Dark

Publisher Description

“A twisty, dark psychological thriller that will leave you guessing til the very end."—Teen Vogue

“[A] riveting read…"—NPR

The line between best friend and something more is a line always crossed in the dark.

Jess Wong is Angie Redmond’s best friend. And that’s the most important thing, even if Angie can’t see how Jess truly feels. Being the girl no one quite notices is OK with Jess anyway. If nobody notices her, she’s free to watch everyone else. But when Angie begins to fall for Margot Adams, a girl from the nearby boarding school, Jess can see it coming a mile away. Suddenly her powers of observation are more a curse than a gift.

As Angie drags Jess further into Margot’s circle, Jess discovers more than her friend’s growing crush. Secrets and cruelty lie just beneath the carefree surface of this world of wealth and privilege, and when they come out, Jess knows Angie won’t be able to handle the consequences.

When the inevitable darkness finally descends, Angie will need her best friend.

“It doesn’t even matter that she probably doesn’t understand how much she means to me. It’s purer this way. She can take whatever she wants from me, whenever she wants it, because I’m her best friend.”

A Line in the Dark is a story of love, loyalty, and murder.

“Title: A line in the Dark Author: Malinda Lo Genre: Psychological Thriller, mystery, LGBT, fantasy, murder Characters: Jess Wong, Angie Redmond, Margot A line in the Dark was recommended by a friend of mine to read. I enjoyed every inch of this book. It was such a well written thriller, and mystery novel. I listened to this book in audiobook, and it gave me all the passion and curiosity I needed!! This book was a lot different from what I normally read. The some of the characters in this book was representing the LGBTQ community, and the Asian community. The interview part of the book kept you on the edge of your set, and if you listen to it on audiobook, you can't stop listening. The one thing I have to say that confused me at the time was the third party and first party from Jess. I think through the book Jess and Angie were nasty and mean girls to one another. The twist at the end, to be honest I had to read it twice to make sure I understood what I was reading, it was a lot of twists and turns and third-party conversations. After reading the story what seemed unreal to me was what happened and how some of the characters played a part in it. I cannot wait to read more from this author. My favorite character in this book was Margot. And when you finish the book, you will see what I mean. Margot was epic and I believe her character should have been the main character. https://www.tumblr.com/thebookteawithjai”
