Publisher Description

In this romantic fantasy of manners from New York Times bestselling author Allison Saft, a magical dressmaker commissioned for a royal wedding finds herself embroiled in scandal when a gossip columnist draws attention to her undeniable chemistry with the groom.

Niamh Ó Conchobhair has never let herself long for more. The magic in her blood that lets her stitch emotions and memories into fabric is the same magic that will eventually kill her. Determined to spend the little time she has left guaranteeing a better life for her family, Niamh jumps at the chance to design the wardrobe for a royal wedding in the neighboring kingdom of Avaland.

But Avaland is far from the fairytale that she imagined. While young nobles attend candlelit balls and elegant garden parties, unrest brews amid the working class. The groom himself, Kit Carmine, is prickly, abrasive, and begrudgingly being dragged to the altar as a political pawn. But when Niamh and Kit grow closer, an unlikely friendship blossoms into something more—until an anonymous gossip columnist starts buzzing about their chemistry, promising to leave them alone only if Niamh helps to uncover the royal family’s secrets. The rot at the heart of Avaland runs deep, but exposing it could risk a future she never let herself dream of, and a love she never thought possible.

Transporting readers to a Regency England-inspired fantasy world, A Fragile Enchantment is a sweeping romance threaded with intrigue, unforgettable characters, and a love story for the ages.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“"...deep down, I am afraid that I am horribly, irredeemebly selfish because I am so afraid that I will die without having let myself live at all." A Fragile Enchantment, enchanted my heart in the best possible way. Let me be a little blunt for a moment and say I completely understand every criticism this book has recieved. The world building is lovely but begging to be explored more. Turning this book into a series would have given ample time to fully encapsulate the magical systems, political conflicts, and character development/histories deeper. However, if I'm being honest? None of that stopped me from loving this book. Would I have loved to see this world expanded more? Of course, but I'm also perfectly content with the book as it is. The writing has a flourish way of describing emotions which I adore. The characters were all interesting in their own ways (even the ones I expected to hate). The themes surrounding the book are endearing and captivating - Learning to live for yourself, letting go of burdens that were never yours to carry, and making impossible decisions for the sake of the ones you love. And the romance? Hand me the rose colored glasses, because I refuse any slander. Sure, Niamh's helplessly clumsy nature, and Kits irritable flippant attitude is cliché in a way, but it has a charm I can't deny myself. It's a enemy's to lovers/forbidden love romance that I acknowledge is entirely indulgent on my part. Is this book perfect? No, and I don't expect others to necessarily agree with my feelings on it. However, simply for the joy and captivation it had on me, this is a 4.5/5 star book for me (and I will rate it 5 stars where necessary because I will stand for no less). XOXO - Your Indulgent Reviewer <3”
“la prima metà prometteva bene, poi la trama è andata proprio a perdersi. è un libro mediocre (che metterò su vinted)”
Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“I feel like this was such a casually romantic book, and it was my first by Allison Saft. I definitely want to read more of her books.”
