Publisher Description

A New York Times Bestseller

“A smart, edge-of-your-seat story with plot twists you’ll never see coming. Stacy Willingham’s debut will keep you turning pages long past your bedtime.” —Karin Slaughter

When Chloe Davis was twelve, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath.

Now twenty years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren't actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer?

From debut author Stacy Willingham comes a masterfully done, lyrical thriller, certain to be the launch of an amazing career. A Flicker in the Dark is eerily compelling to the very last page.

Expressionless Face“I gave this one 3 stars, only because it has a solid plot line. It took entirely too long in my opinion to get to it with way too many twists. The main character was HIGHLY annoying to me and the author’s style of writing made this book very hard to get through.”

Thinking Face“This book was full of turns. I think the perspective the book written in the main characters voice made the visible plot seem shaky. And allowed readers to question and make scenarios and conclusions which makes the book even more interesting and thrilling.”

Thinking Face“I liked this book. Definitely kept my attention but I was getting a little bored at how witless this woman could be, she's a freakin doctor! I get that 'trauma' affects people differently but c'mon. I felt like she really wanted to get away from her past but she also wasn't trying -THAT- hard to do so. I started to hate being in Chloe's head so much, the paranoia, confusion and bumbling around were getting super annoying I was almost hoping she was going to be the next victim so she would shut up. It did ramp up though and I appreciate the author picking up the pace after 200 pages or so.”

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“This book was one where I had 2 theories going in my head. There was one twist that got me but for the most part I had an idea what was going to happy. For a debut book the author did a great job.”

Expressionless Face“Slow burn at the start. Descriptive writing style was a bit repetitive at times and drawn out over several chapters. Overall a thought provoking read with several twists towards the end. The characters were believable and relatable with a true who-done-it plot till the very end. TW: SA, SI, SH, Abuse, 💊 & 🍷”
