A Farewell To Arms

By Ernest Hemingway
A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

A timeless tale of love, war, and the human spirit.

Set against the backdrop of World War I, A Farewell to Arms tells the story of Frederic Henry, an American ambulance driver in the Italian army, and his passionate romance with the British nurse Catherine Barkley. As the horrors of war close in, their love becomes both a refuge and a tragedy in the making.

With his trademark spare, powerful prose, Ernest Hemingway explores the brutal realities of combat and the fragile beauty of love in a world torn apart by violence. At once a war novel, a love story, and a profound reflection on courage, loss, and disillusionment, this classic remains one of Hemingway's most enduring and celebrated works.

A haunting and unforgettable masterpiece from one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.

A Farewell To Arms Reviews

“A reread of the paperback I had in highschool English. Unsurprisingly, this novel hits very differently as an adult and it especially hits differently at this particular point in American history. The themes of identity and expectations, of what it means to be a hero and what it means to be a coward....they're just as relavent today as they were when Hemingway wrote this based on his own experience of WWI. I know a lot of people don't like Hemingway's writing style, but I definitely do. He forces his readers to read between the lines, to sit in the subtext. It reads like a single stream of consciousness, which gives you an amazing insight into the narrator. It's timeless and heart breaking and captivating and relavent.”
