“If it didn't start as a Fullmetal Alchemist fanfiction, I'd eat my shoe.
In this particular case, I resent that. It was…distracting. Both too little and too much. I think I'd rather have read either an honest AU or an entirely original – even if inspired by FMA – book 😒. Here, I couldn't separate Wes and Maggie from Roy and Riza. They refused to become their own characters in my head, yet they were different enough from their versions from FMA that it just kept throwing me 😮💨
Still, on its own merit (except the saggy middle, too quick resolution, and the fact that I really, REALLY disliked the author's take on Riza…cough…MAGGIE here), this book wasn't entirely bad…? Well, at least the prose was decent.
Shame it was such a damn rip-off.
(Left me feeling vaguely dirty for supporting plagiarism.)
Not for an honest FMA fan. Meaning, you should MAYBE read this if you're a hardcore royai stan, have read all the fanfics out there, and are now salivating for more. Or if you have never read/watched Fullmetal Alchemist at all. Other than that?
