“i loved this book so much, and as someone who is cuban and getting to read about all the recipes and culture i grew up with was so beautiful. also one of the side characters shares my name and nickname, and she was such a fun character. i can’t even pick a favorite character, i loved them all so much and the character development for lila the main character. i adore the setting and the vibes, it was just so beautifully written. i bought this book when i went on my first vacation with my husband years ago to Powells bookstore in Portland Oregan and im so sad it took me so long to read this book because it was genuinely so good. I’ll definitely be thinking about this book for a while.”

“What a wonderful light read! As a Cuban girl living away from home and missing my family, this book was such a beautiful reminder of our traditions. I could almost smell the arroz con pollo, taste the warm café con leche, and smell the aromas of our sweet pastelitos. While at the same time feel the love and hear the laughter and loud conversations filling the living room and kitchen— because that’s just how we talk. This story made me feel right at home and reminded me that home isn’t a place, it’s a feeling.”
