Embark on an exciting, adventurous, and dangerous journey through the galaxy with the motley crew of the spaceship Wayfarer in this fun and heart-warming space opera—the sequel to the acclaimed The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet.

Lovelace was once merely a ship’s artificial intelligence. When she wakes up in a new body, following a total system shut-down and reboot, she has no memory of what came before. As Lovelace learns to negotiate the universe and discover who she is, she makes friends with Pepper, an excitable engineer, who’s determined to help her learn and grow.

Together, Pepper and Lovey will discover that no matter how vast space is, two people can fill it together.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet introduced readers to the incredible world of Rosemary Harper, a young woman with a restless soul and secrets to keep. When she joined the crew of the Wayfarer, an intergalactic ship, she got more than she bargained for—and learned to live with, and love, her rag-tag collection of crewmates.

A Closed and Common Orbit is the stand-alone sequel to that beloved debut novel, and is perfect for fans of Firefly, Joss Whedon, Mass Effect, and Star Wars.

“It took me a little while to get into this one, probably because I loved the first book so much and wasn't super invested in the new characters we follow in this book, but I quickly got over that. It made me tear up quite a few times, themes of isolation, finding purpose, and learning how to be 'human' will always make me emotional, especially the way Chambers explores them. The only reason it's not quite 5 stars was that it could have had just a tiny bit more structure in terms of plot”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“This is genuinely the most beautiful book I’ve read. Becky Chambers could teach a master class on character building. Her commentary on humanity and her observations of human relationships through the eyes of a runaway clone, an AI turned humanoid, and an abandoned ship’s AI who loves like a mother are a thing of beauty. I truly wish that I could erase this book from my mind so I could go back and read it again for the first time.”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“After finishing part one, I couldn’t wait to start this one. While I was initially a bit disappointed when I realized we weren’t following the crew again, all the positives about Chambers’ writing were still present: it was an immersive read with diverse characters who evolve as the story progresses. Although I preferred the story in part one, the entire premise around AI was very well done and felt relevant in many ways. In the end, I really liked this book and look forward to part three. :)”
