“Night sky with exit wounds
To read any of Ocean Vuong’s works is to be met with insanely captivating lyricism, and to experience a poet that truly lays his soul bare in his poems. Vuong writes as though he has a thesaurus wired to his brain and after falling in love with On Earth we’re Briefly Gorgeous, I knew I had to get my hands on his poetry.
Night sky with exit wounds is a collection that weaves its way into your heart and creates its own little nook. Vuong’s prose is one that lives inside of you. His way of describing love, loss, family and desire in his own life as well as historically, is entirely consuming. “What becomes of the shepherd when the sheep are cannibals?” The way Vuong addresses the war of his predecessors in his own life’s context is immensely alluring and assures that this collection will forever be relevant in its place in history.”
