Today is International Animation Day, created in 2002 by the ASIFA (International Animated Film Association), to celebrate the art of animation and inspire new talent. The origins of animations can be traced to the first public performance of projected animated cartoons in Paris in 1892 by Charles-Émile Reynaud’s Théâtre Optique in Paris.The day’s significance lies in more than just celebrating the artistry behind animation but also in encouraging collaboration among creators, viewers, and industry professionals. Bridging the gap between these groups fosters a greater understanding and appreciation for the artistic medium and inspires future generations of animators to hone their skills and explore their potential.Throughout the day and around the world, workshops, screenings, and exhibitions will occur, displaying the various techniques and the diversity in the animation community. Some of my favorite animated works include “Arcane,” “Spirited Away,” and “Coraline,” and my favorite studios are Fortiche, Studio Ghibli, and Laika!Join other Fable members on the home feed discussing their favorite animations!
