The editorial team at Fable has put together a variety pack of reading challenges this month, with an activity for every kind of reader. And, obviously, we included a challenge involving cookies and other tasty treats! As always, we operate on the honor system with our reading challenges, so there's no button to push or form to fill out. This month, the app spotlight will be on the End of Year Wrap, so we'll use the Fable app's comments section to celebrate our accomplishments.

6 challenges for all kinds of readers in December

While there are plenty of reading-focused activities this month, we tried to make challenges that relate to all the bookish activities we are all doing during the holidays.Remember, these challenges are just for fun, so don't feel any pressure to participate!

Challenge One

Make a homemade bookish gift for a friend or family member for the holidays. Share a photo of your bookmarks, annotated copies, crochet projects, and other crafty gifts on the For You feed in the Fable app!

Challenge Two

Anytime this month, bake something tasty or buy a treat for yourself to celebrate the holidays (and National Cookie Day on December 4).

Challenge Three

Fix your reading streak using Fable’s Edit Streak feature for Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day (December 8). If you read but forgot to log it, backfill the day and celebrate your accomplishment!

Challenge Four

Read a human-rights–focused work (memoir, history, journalism, or a novel in translation) for Human Rights Day (December 10).

Challenge Five

Perform one act of self-care to celebrate the unofficial Season of Self-Care (December)—read a poem before bed, take a phone-free walk with an audiobook, or write a page in your journal.

Challenge Six

Read a wintry book (snowy setting, winter holidays, holiday vacations, or whatever you like to read in colder months) for the First Day of Winter (December 22).
