The Wheel of Time Wiki page describes the fundamental concept behind the Wheel of Time series: "At the dawn of time a deity known as the Creator forged the universe and the Wheel of Time, which spins the Pattern of the Ages using the lives of men and women as its threads. The Wheel has seven spokes, each representing an age, and it is rotated by the One Power, which flows from the True Source. The One Power is divided into male and female halves, saidin and saidar, which work in opposition and in unison to drive the Wheel. Humans who can use its power are known as channelers; the principal organization of such channelers in the books is called the Aes Sedai or 'Servants of All' in the Old Tongue."Novelist Brandon Sanderson spoke about the series in a long video, answering fans' key questions about the history and future of the great series.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MITTIur3YtkQuotes from the Wheel of Time series
“He was swimming in a sea of other people’s expectations. Men had drowned in seas like that.” ― Robert Jordan, New Spring
“Some men […] choose to seek greatness, while others are forced to it. It is always better to choose than to be forced. A man who is forced is never completely his own master. He must dance on the strings of those who forced him.” ― Robert Jordan, The Great Hunt
“As the Wheel of Time turns, places wear many names. Men wear many names, many faces. Different faces, but always the same man. Yet no one knows the Great Pattern the Wheel weaves, or even the Pattern of an Age. We can only watch, and study, and hope.” ― Robert Jordan, The Eye of the World
“The only rules he wanted to remember were "never kiss a girl whose brothers have knife scars" and "never gamble without knowning a back way out” ― Robert Jordan
“Stories have power. Gleemen's tales, and bards' epics, and rumors in the street alike. They stir passions, and change the way men see the world.” ― Robert Jordan, Winter's Heart
Wheel of Time book reviews
"it’s just fantasy, straight up, no chaser. With all the portent, intrigue, battles, prophecies, magic, fantastic creatures, heroes, villains, cast-of-thousands, good-vs-evil, Fate-of-the-world-itself drama that implies. And that is why it is awesome."― Tor.com
"If you’re tired of magic systems that apparently are infinite and lack any formal structure, then you’re in luck. Another laudable feature of this series is the interesting female characters! It’s easy for characters in fantasy novels to become one dimensional or stereotypical, but the ladies in this story can seriously hold their own. In conclusion, if you liked Game of Thrones or The Lord of the Rings, you’re going to love this book."― Frostbeard Studios
"One of the greatest series ever written in the fantasy genre. A must read for anyone that's a fan of these types of stories (fantasy). The characters are well developed and follow a logical arch of development ... I fell in love with the world Jordan created and 30 years after my first read I still love this book."― Andy Brubaker
