Fans around the globe have obsessed over the "Shadow and Bone" series and “Six of Crows” series by Leigh Bardugo for many years. It’s a collection of interconnected fantasy books set in an imaginary story-world dubbed “The Grishaverse.”The series opens in a world torn in half by the "Shadow Fold," a mysterious curtain of darkness that has swept across a once-great country and set loose fearsome creatures upon the cities trapped in its wake. This world has fractured with wars over resources, the landscape literally divided by evil forces.In the first novel, a young mapmaker named Alina discovers she possesses an untapped power that can help confront the darkness covering this land. There are lots of new shows and movies adapted from great books—streaming across platforms, from Hulu to Apple TV to Netflix to Amazon.Documentarian Ken Burns turned his camera to the work of Nobel Prize-winning author, Ernest Hemingway this month. The documentary looks at his famous books, as well as examples of the novelist’s misogyny, racism, and abuse.

Without Remorse (Amazon)

Tom Clancy's great novel tells the story of how an ordinary man named John Kelly takes a journey into the heart of darkness to become a brilliant, cold-blooded, and efficient CIA agent named Mr. Clark. The film stars Michael B. Jordan, a thriller directed by "Sicario: Day of the Soldado" helmer Stefano Sollima with a script by “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan. The Mosquito Coast (Apple)

This Apple TV film is adapted from "The Mosquito Coast" by Paul Theroux. It tells the story of a family with a mysterious past that goes on the run. This Is a Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist (Netflix)

Journalist Ulrich Boser wrote the definitive account of an art heist at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990, when two thieves committed the largest art heist in history, escaping with one Vermeer, three Rembrandts, and five Degas.The haul is estimated to be worth as much as $500 million.
