Benefits of Social Reading
As we begin another year of transition and uncertainty, there’s never been a better time to make reading a healthy habit. When you add more reading to your life, try reading together with friends, family, and co-workers to enjoy the full mental and physical benefits of reading.

Why reading together matters

“Works of fiction and poetry have endured because another human being in another time, often experiencing some form of difficulty, has worked hard to find a language for what they're experiencing,” said Professor Josie Billington in a special panel discussion hosted by FableBillington has seen firsthand how people from all backgrounds discovered the life-changing benefits of reading together. She worked with The Reader, a U.K.-based charity that runs hundreds of reading groups around Europe. The group pioneered the art of “Shared Reading,” a technique where groups of two to twelve readers gather and read aloud together. “It's a wonderfully inclusive model,” she said, adding that readers discovered positive benefits from sharing poetry, plays, short stories, and novels. “People can come together and experience a book in real-time.” Shared Reading participants reported an increase in self-esteem, as well self-worth, social participation, and friendship.  The Fable app is designed for social reading, making it super easy for you to share your thoughts, highlight favorite lines, take notes, and have discussions while reading together. To celebrate our launch this month, we are offering a free 30-day trial of Fable, which is now available in Google Play for Android users and the App Store for iOS users.https://youtu.be/m4K_o7iRHwQ
