Having people to talk to when you finish a great book is wonderful. Maude Garrett, an Australian entertainment host living in Los Angeles, was inspired to create her book club to connect with other readers. “Everyone has such a unique take due to their own experiences,” she explained. “So having a place to share and hear those perspectives is SO rewarding.” Maude is reading “Red Rising” by Pierce Brown with her book club this month.

We chatted with Maude to learn more about her and her growing book club.She’s an Australian entertainment host who specializes in pop culture. “I’ve been an avid reader since after high school when I changed my ‘had to read’ into a ‘want to read’ mentality,” she explained. “I’ve been making book content since 2010. My favorite genres are fantasy (and indirectly sci-fi)!”When asked why she started her book club, she explained, “I would ask celebs and guests over the years what their PWR is: what they’re Playing, Watching & Reading."She concluded: "The number of people who read was startling, and I kept recommending books to people with great results. So starting this book club was to encourage more people to read, hence our slogan Let's Read More Books!"Why did Maude’s Book Club choose Red Rising?
Maude is friends with the author in real life, and she's been looking for a chance to start this book with a huge fan following.“When I first met him, I was like, ‘Your books are on my TBR!!’ Now that he’s wrapped the sixth book, I thought there was no better time to get stuck into the series with an amazing community.”"Something I often say is that we all read the same words but hear a different story. Everyone has such a unique take due to their own personal experiences, so having a place to share and hear those perspectives is SO rewarding. Plus I've been able to get every pick's author on the show at the end of the month which has been FASCINATING, authors like Gabrielle Zevin, Naomi Novik, Martha Wells and Patrick Rothfuss. I love being invited into their minds to learn about their process and relationships they have with their characters."
