If you loved these animes and K-dramas, you’ll love these books

One thing to know about me is that I am obsessed with all things anime and K-dramas, and it all started because of my older brother. He was an exchange student in Japan when I was young, and when he came back he inevitably transferred this passion to me. Fast forward a few years later, after becoming obsessed with anime and manga, I discovered my very first K-Drama, which in turn led to my discovery of K-Pop—and now here I am with some book recs! This post will feature a combination of anime and K-drama book recommendations, merging all of my favorite things into one chaotic post for you. I hope you’ll enjoy these reads, and if you’ve read any of these, come find me in the comments so we can chat!If you liked “Kamisama Kiss,” you’ll like “Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox” In “Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox,” a letter from a long-lost aunt names Tsumiko heiress to an ancestral estate and its accompanying fortune. But the legacy comes with an aloof heirloom: an inhuman butler. Argent has served the Hajime family for centuries, and Tsumiko must renew the generational bond or he’ll die. Now, tell me that doesn’t sound just like Tomoe and Nanami? Truly a must-read for fans of this anime filled with action and the occasional adorable fluff between God and familiar (I am running to the bookstore to try and find this as we speak). If you liked “Love Scout,” you’ll like “Terms & Conditions”Now, this K-drama might not necessarily have the fake-dating trope but it’s a new CEO-secretary romance, and Lauren Asher’s “Terms & Conditions” feels like it fits the bill for this one. If you liked “Noragami,” you’ll like “Seven Deadly Shadows”“Seven Deadly Shadows” was adapted from the 1954 live-action “Seven Samurai” film, but altered to a more Y/A friendly set-up—meaning the sixteen-year-old priestess, Kira, enlists the help of seven shinigami (death Gods) to defeat Shuten-doji (the demon king), so this book seems quite fitting for “Noragami.” And while the book might be a bit more intense than “Kamisama Kiss,” I could definitely see fans of the anime also enjoying this book!If you liked “Doom at Your Service,” you’ll like “If Cats Disappeared from the World”Okay, I know, there isn’t any romance in this book, but it is incredibly fitting given what Dong-gyung goes through in this K-drama and the opportunity she is given through Myul Mang.
