The World Celebrates Frankenstein Friday

Every October, readers celebrate Frankenstein Friday, a day to remember Mary Shelly and her classic novel. As he dates back to the 1800s, Frankenstein’s monster is one of the most well-known horror characters of all time.The book follows a young scientist who creates a monstrous creature in the pursuit of knowledge during a secret experiment. It follows themes of life, death, and man versus nature while a man chooses glory and scientific advancements that end up putting those around him at risk. There have been over 60 movies and shorts made on the theme of Frankenstein, or “the Modern Prometheus.” One of the most recent is Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” starring Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac, and Jacob Elordi, which is set to release in 2025.There are many ways to observe Frankenstein Friday with the most popular being to find out who Frankenstein is, to watch a movie featuring Frankenstein, or just read the original book. Some even choose to create art, such as drawing a version of Frankenstein’s monster, or writing a poem.
