How To Read The Wheel of Time Series on Fable

Wheel of Time Series

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

That quote is one of my favorite opening lines to a novel. Even reading it now brings me back to when I picked up the book and embarked on my first read-through of "The Eye of the World" by Robert Jordan.

Why is Wheel of Time so famous?

The greatest authors make their worlds and characters relatable to their audience, and The Wheel of Time series is an incredible achievement in world-building. Learn more about Jordan in Fable's Reading Guide for The Wheel of Time.Robert Jordan always impressed me with his female characters. He isn't perfect, but he crafted a diverse cast of strong and multifaceted female characters at a time when most of the fantasy I was reading was very much male-centric.The character of Nynaeve especially struck me as a woman confident in her abilities and convictions, despite the nay-saying of the men around her. She reminds me a lot of one of my favorite fictional female characters: Princess Leia.Next, storytellers have used dreams as motifs throughout history, and dreams take on a mystical quality in The Wheel of Time. In the series, dreams can portend the future and provide an avenue into the minds of our heroes by the Big Bad Evil Guy.Finally, a gleeman in the Wheel of Time universe (and Middle Ages) is another name for a storyteller. I've always maintained that storytelling is the oldest profession... not that other one from the cliche. Whether right or not, I think few of us readers would disagree that storytellers are one of the most important professions.

Is there a season 2 of Wheel of Time?

Yes! The first season of The Wheel of Time focused on events in the first book, "The Eye of the World." As you watch the show, you can compare it with book club discussions.Fans hope the second season will focus on the second book in the series, "The Great Hunt." This Nerdist article has some spoiler-filled predictions for the next season.

“Rafe Judkins continues as showrunner. We know the first episode is called ‘A Taste of Solitude.’ Amanda Kate Shuman wrote it. Interestingly, the episode name pulls its title from a chapter in book six of the series, Lord of Chaos. Amazon announced principal photography for season two reached the halfway mark in late November. They film in Prague.”
