Why We Chose the World Literacy Foundation
The World Literacy Foundation had a true impact during one of the most difficult years in recent memory, providing literacy support to disadvantaged children who are struggling to learn how to read and write. In 2020 alone, nearly 17,000 children or parents accessed the foundation’s services and they distributed more than 91,000 books around the world. The organization is truly global, supporting children in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South America, and Africa.Their mission is particularly important as we celebrate International Literacy Day together on September 8. You can join this free online event to enjoy entertaining story times, literacy webinars, workshops, and much more. Register today to access 12 hours of video sessions with international children’s authors and literacy experts. As Fable’s community grows, we want to help expand the World Literacy Foundation’s essential mission.I founded Fable because I know reading can promote empathy, social perception, and emotional intelligence. We believe in stories for everyone, and we’ve partnered with literacy leaders like the incomparable LeVar Burton to make that vision a reality. LeVar has dedicated his life to bringing the power of storytelling to people of all ages, empowering people of all ages through the power of literacy. I’m proud to see the important conversations he fosters every week in his book club and the life-changing book recommendations he shares with our members.Start exploring Fable’s bookstore today! Together, we can create a world where everyone can read and write.
