Cinnamon Roll Books
Sep 16 2024

If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I LOVE a good pairing, and what’s better than pairing books with something else? For this week’s bookish pairing, we’re taking the snack route and matching some books that would go perfectly with cinnamon rolls.
Don’t forget to check the comments to find a delectable cinnamon roll recipe for you to try at home!
1. “The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore” by Laurie Gilmore
I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory. The second installment in the stand-alone series following “The Pumpkin Spice Café” this book is a little bit fluffy, hella sweet, and a generous sprinkle of spice - much like a fluffy cinnamon roll layered in cream-cheese (or vanilla) frosting.
2. “The Maid and the Crocodile” by Jordan Ifueko
I may be slightly biased because I just finished reading this book and it’s now my entire personality, but I do think it would fit the cinnamon roll Vibe. This follows Sade, our curse-eating maid, as she embarks on a magical journey that will include eating magical silt to cleanse people of their regrets, breaking the curse of a certain Crocodile God, and maybe even getting stuck in a body bond with said-Crocodile God. This is a beautiful story inspired by “Howl’s Moving Castle” that mixes in vibrant elements of West African folklore that had me in a CHOKEHOLD from page one until the end.
3. “Unwanted” by Mia Sheridan
Perfect for fans of “Archer’s Voice” (also by Mia) and how Archer was the PERFECT Cinnamon Roll MMC, “Unwanted” will fill the gap in your heart that “Archer’s Voice” left you with. With the MMC being forced to grow up in the woods after being kidnapped for some sort of messed up experiment, he meets Harper, our FMC, who will heal his heart. It’s so sweet and fluffy at times, but watch out because there will be a kick of spice in there (in a romantic sense, yes, but also with how utterly messed up some characters are in this story).
4. “Kimi Ni Todoke” by Karuho Shiina
Whether you’ve watched the anime or read the manga, you already KNOW that Kuronuma Sawako and Shota Kazehaya are the embodiment of Cinnamon Roll characters. This is a classic coming-of-age, young-adult love story in terms of manga/anime. It’s sweet, it’s heartwarming, it’s fluffy, it’s all the things we love about a good cinnamon roll.
