1. The Duke and I (2000)
“This is the first book in the Bridgerton siblings series, where the author very politely informs us that we’re about to read eight love stories and absolutely lose our minds over every single one. Here we start with Daphne, one of the sisters, and Simon, an extremely attractive, very confident bachelor who claims he will remain single. Spoiler alert: he will not. The story is emotional, addictive, and unapologetically romantic. Yes, it focuses on love (swooning will happen), but it’s also about family, healing, and proving that even when everything feels impossible, it can still be overcome. I loved it. Devoured it. Immediately understood why people won’t shut up about the Bridgertons."– Fable reader Joana
2. The Viscount Who Loved Me (2000)
“I just love these books. They make me so happy, and I kick my feet and shed a few tears. They’re just so witty and so Jane Austen-inspired in the best way. I love the wit of Lady Whistledown beginning each chapter. This was my favourite season of the show, and I loved the book even more (I’m more supportive of true sisters who would never let a man in between them). Also, I will say Jonathan Bailey did an incredible job as Anthony. He is exactly the same in the book, and it was impossible to even try to picture someone else. Such a good read!!!”– Fable reader Natalie
3. An Offer From a Gentleman (2001)
"Out of all of the Bridgerton books I’ve read so far, this is my favorite!! I also feel like I enjoyed this book a lot more than I did with the other ones I read so far (I've read Daphne’s story and Anthony's story). I wonder if I enjoyed this more because I read this before I watched the season. I also loved how it was a Cinderella retelling! I loved the characters! I feel like it was written perfectly."– Fable reader Lisette
4. Romancing Mister Bridgerton (2002)
“I do really like the friends-to-lovers trope, and this didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed watching Colin’s and Penelope’s love story develop, but I have to say that my favourite part of this story was the side stories with the rest of the Bridgertons and Lady Danbury. Also, I really enjoyed Colin’s travel diary. I specifically loved the ending. It was just perfect.”– Fable reader Reading Detective
5. To Sir Phillip, With Love (2003)
"I ended up finishing it in one day. Such an easy, gentle read. This was cozy, comforting, and just what I needed 😌📖 Overall, it’s a beautiful little love story, the kind that warms your heart. And since Eloise has always been one of my favorite characters in the show, I absolutely loved getting to experience her story."– Fable reader Sophie
6. When He Was Wicked (2004)
"Francesca has always been so quiet, I feel as if I hardly know her. It was nice to get to see her really blossom in this book. I felt like there was a lot of character growth throughout the book for her which was really refreshing. The spice in this book was also pretty good compared to others in the series. I felt as if the timeline is a little off for me as basically Collin, Eloise and Francesca all share the same timeline. Kinda sad that it was all so rushed. I would have liked more of the whole family to be present in this book."– Fable reader Bai.Books
7. It's in His Kiss (2006)
“This was so good, probably the best Bridgerton book !! I loved Gareth and Hyacinth, they were so cute and they totally matched each other, a really good paring that was actually based on chemistry. Loved the mystery sub plot !! :)”– Fable reader Sunni
8. On the Way to the Wedding (2006)
“This is the final Bridgerton book so naturally it starts with someone running, yes, RUNNING, to a wedding. Gregory Bridgerton, smallest brother and biggest romantic, is absolutely sure he’s found true love… until he doesn’t? Classic Gregory energy. By the end, you’ll be swooning, laughing, and maybe chanting 'Go get her, Gregory!' as you zip through the chaos that is Regency romance meets accidental love story.”– Fable readerJulia Quinn's recommended reading order
Beyond the core novels, Julia Quinn has created a number of additional stories in the Bridgerton universe. We've put those books together in order for you, complete with links to the books in the Everand catalog and some reviews from real Fable readers.Happy reading!
Because of Miss Bridgerton (2016)
"Loved it! This is my first exposure to the Bridgerton series, and I thought the writing was very funny and kept me engaged even with very little actual plot points. I love Billie! Very Jo March-esque feistiness.”– Fable reader Hannah
The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband (2017)
“Absolutely ate this up. So easy to read, predictable but I really liked it. The story followed on so well from the ending of book 1."– Fable reader Jayne
The Other Miss Bridgerton (2018)
"I loved this Bridgerton prequel more than I expected! The Other Miss Bridgerton puts you in Poppy Bridgerton’s shoes as she comes across a mysterious cave stocked with crates."– Fable reader Autumn
First Comes Scandal (2020)
"Friends to lovers? Marriage of convenience? He values and loves her opinions, and makes her a partner at his clinic, and lets her be a doctor in the 1700s? I loved every minute of this book." – Fable reader MadiAfter those prequels, Quinn recommends moving into the rest of the series.
