Fathers Day Book Recommendations
Did you read books with your dad? Novelist C.S. Lewis never would have written his beloved Chronicles of Narnia series without the help of his dad. "My father bought all the books he read and never got rid of any of them,” wrote Lewis, recalling magnificent stacks of books in every corner of his house. These books kindled his young imagination:

“In the seemingly endless rainy afternoons I took volume after volume from the shelves. I had always the same certainty of finding a book that was new to me as a man who walks into a field has of finding a new blade of grass."

Reading is a skill, just as much as playing baseball or learning how to fish. This Father’s Day, let’s say “thank you” to all the dads who shared their love of books with their kids. And then give your dad something great to read!

It’s a famous poem that pays tribute to all the moms who read books with their kids. Over at Owlish Books, writer Loes M. wrote about this poem, but thanked their dad for reading.

“it is my father who instilled me with this love of books that I have. Every week, we would go to the library together. When I’d raced through the children’s section, he took me by the hand and into a new world: multiple-tome fantasy series in the adult section. I escape in books and stories every day and I have included storytelling in my job as well – I will be forever grateful that my dad helped me get there/here.”
