Tom Price served as the sports information director for his alma mater from 1962 till his retirement at the end of 1992. Subsequently, Price served as a consultant and historian for the Gamecocks’ athletic department. He also served as the official scorer for the Gamecocks’ home baseball games and a radio analyst for their away baseball games. Price was inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) Hall of Fame in 1981 and the University of South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. Price is the author of four books on Gamecocks sports history: The 1984 Gamecocks: Fire Ants & Black Magic (1985); A Century of Gamecocks: Memorable Football Moments (1995); A Century of Gamecocks: Memorable Basketball Moments (1996); and A Century of Gamecocks: Memorable Baseball Moments (1996).He passed away in 2008 at the age of 81.Tom Price Books
